Hi children,

Would you like to start on a path that takes you to your dreams?

I am going to tell you two things that you can do that will help you do that; they are very simple tasks and almost everyone can do them.

One … Write!

Every day, write one sentence that makes a record of your day. You can do this in a book, or on a note pad. Your sentence can be simple: Today was a good day, or, today was a bad day. You can add why it was a good or bad day by giving more details. Today was my lucky day because my brother came home from Iraq or my mom got a raise! If you do this every day, soon you will have a reference to fall back on when you want to write your great book, or you will be simply polishing your writing skills.

Two. . . Listen!

Ask questions and then listen to the answers. Listen to the stories that people tell you. Ask older people questions and then listen to their answers: How much did you pay to get into the movies when you were my age, or, Grandpa how much did you have to pay for a candy bar when you were my age? Why not ask them, which day was their best day when they were your age and why? If you ask people questions, make sure you listen to their answers, no matter how long the answer! Sometimes it is in the last sentence that you will find the first sentence of your first great book. “It was my worst day and it was my best day. . .” How could that be, sounds like the beginnings of a great story to me!

By listening to what people, tell you, you are gathering knowledge and possibly great material for a best seller! Did you say you want to be an author? If not you are still polishing an important skill you will need in life, listening!

Now by doing these two things you can get on a path that takes you to your dream. A few minutes spent every day, writing down your thoughts telling about your day, good or bad, does not matter, and listening will put you on your way to being what you want to be. You will be surprised in time how doing these two simple things will help you!

Until we meet later, have fun!
